## Sixth Grade Objectives

The sixth grade academic objectives are listed below:

- Demonstrate an understanding of equivalent relationships between fractions, decimals, and percents
- Compare and order whole numbers, fractions, decimals using concrete materials, drawings or pictures, and mathematical symbols
- Solve problems that include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with whole numbers
- Solve problems that include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with fractions
- Solve problems that include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with mixed numbers
- Solve problems that include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with decimals
- Solve multistep consumer application problems involving fractions and decimals and present the data and solutions in paragraphs, graphs, or tables
- Evaluate story problems to determine which operation is required (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, estimation, rounding)
- Use word reference materials to learn the meaning of unfamiliar words
- Read a variety of fiction (realistic, fantasy, historical, biographical)
